I’m back with another recipe featuring the most gorgeous Fall fruit — The persiMon®!
Last time, I shared the most warming sweet cocktail and now, let’s pair it with a delicious appetizer. This Spicy persiMon® Harissa Tart comes together with store-bought puff pastry sheets and harissa paste, requiring very little prep work.
If you aren’t familiar with it, it’s a persimmon fruit brand that is from the Ribera del Xúquer Valley in Spain. They have a sweet, delicate flavor similar to a peach or a mango and are only available for a short period of time – November till January! They are naturally ripe, which means they are ready to eat. Aside from the delicate sweet taste of the fruit, I’m quite fond of the distinctive star inside. She cute, right!?
What I love about this recipe…
The Puff Pastry makes this a simple appetizer to throw together. Open the package, add your toppings and simply bake! It doesn’t get any easier than that. No kneading, no rising, no rolling out.
The ingredients together create an explosion of flavors. A base of buttery flakey puff pastry, a generous spread of creamy salty whipped feta, and sweet persiMon® spiced with harissa— it’s like bringing a “party” to your taste buds.
You can make these ahead of time and bake them right before you’re ready to serve them. It’s always a plus, especially when planning a dinner party or a get-together if the recipe can be made a day or two ahead.
Tips & Tricks for Spicy persiMon® Harissa Tart
How to work with puff pastry sheets: Puff Pastry can be a little tricky if you let it set out to room temperature. It becomes sticky and hard to handle. Keep each sheet in the refrigerator and covered in a large ziplock bag until ready to use.
How to make this appetizer ahead of time: Both the whipped feta and Harissa spiced persiMon® can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge. When you’re ready to make the appetizer, simply pull out your ingredients and layer on top of your puff pastry and bake!

Spicy persiMon® Harissa Tart made with a buttery flaky puff pastry and whipped feta — A sweet & savoury tart makes for a perfect appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
3 persiMon®, thinly sliced
4 tbsp harissa paste
1 sheet butter puff pastry
1 egg for egg wash
sprigs of thyme
For the Whipped Feta
8 oz feta cheese
1/4 plain greek yogurt
2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400° F.
In a medium-sized bowl, add persiMon® and harissa paste and mix till well combined and set aside.
In a food processor, combine feta, greek yogurt, olive oil and pepper to taste. Pulse until completely smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides if needed, about 3 minutes and set aside.
On a parchment-lined baking sheet, lay the puff pastry sheet. Spread the whipped feta leaving about 1/2 ” border and arrange persiMon® slices as you’d like. Sprinkle with thyme and brush the puff pastry with egg wash.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges have puffed and are golden brown.
Slice into 8 pieces and enjoy!
