Made with a spiced maple persiMon® puree, bourbon and a splash of club soda, it’s the perfect warming drink for the cold Fall & Winter months ahead. Pair it with an evening of cozying up on the couch and you’re golden!
November marks the start of persiMon® season — which lasts through till January. I always buy a large case of them at my local grocery store.
Familiar with persiMon®? This brand of persimmons hail from Spain and are ready-to-eat! They are a beautiful bright orange coloured fruit that is firm and naturally ripened. It has a sweet and soft mango/peach flavour and is seedless. You can enjoy with the skin on and eat it like you would most fruit. Raw, peeled, roasted, blended, juiced, cooked, etc… There’s truly no wrong way to eat it! P.s. A little tip for you. I like to look for little freckles when picking them because they’re a sign of extra sweetness.
A few notes on the cocktail…
Spiced Maple persiMon® Purée: I played around between two recipes for this one! My first attempt was a persiMon® maple simple syrup, which was simply boiling the ingredients in water for 20 minutes then pour the mixture through a strainer, leaving you with just the liquid. Albeit good, I wanted more of the persiMon® flavour. Instead, I repeated the same recipe & steps but added a cinnamon stick. Once finished boiling, I removed the cinnamon stick and added the mixture to a blender and blended it till smooth.
With the puree, you can make up to 6 cocktails. If you’re wanting to make a pitcher-style, simply double or quadruple up on the recipe. It keeps in the fridge for up to a week or in the freezer for several months!
Garnish is totally optional — I rimmed my glass with a little sugar mixed with cinnamon and added a sprig of thyme. Made the drink a little festive and cute. Top your drink off with a little sparkling water or club soda and you’re ready to enjoy!

Ingredients
For the Spiced Maple persiMon® Purée
2 persiMon®, chopped
1/2 cup real maple syrup
1/2 cup water
1 cinnamon stick
For the Bourbon Fizz
2 ounces bourbon
2–3 tbsp spiced maple persiMon® purée
club soda, for topping
Instructions
For the Spiced Maple persiMon® Purée: In a small pot, combine the persiMon®s, maple syrup, 1/2 cup water, and 1 cinnamon stick. Set over medium heat and bring to a boil. Cook 15-20 minutes or until the persiMon®s are soft and have released their juices. Remove from the heat. Remove the cinnamon stick and blend the mix. Let cool.
For the persiMon® Bourbon Fizz: Add bourbon and spiced maple persiMon® purée to a serving glass, and stir together. Fill the glass with ice, then pour the club soda over the ice. Serve and enjoy!
