Valentine’s Day Smoothie Bowl— This Strawberry-Banana-Coconut Smoothie bowl with letter-shaped fruits, was inspired by the little candy hearts with sweet messages. It makes for the perfect V-day healthy treat!
Truth be told, we don’t really celebrate Valentine’s day. Sure, when I was in high school, it was totally a big deal, but now 10 years in with the Mr. and a little (big) dude, it’s not a “holiday” I go crazy for. Okay, wait… Although I don’t have expectations and want the Mr. to jump through hoops on this love-filled day, I still appreciate a little thought put into it. Plan a chill casual night-in with my favorite Netflix show, some wine, and steak and lobster. Totally doable, right? I contradicted myself there…Clearly there are a little expectations! ? What can I say, a girl loves to get spoiled, and the way to my heart is through food, Sephora, and shoes. #NoShame
All joking aside, even though we don’t go all out, we still like to do a little something to celebrate the day. While the Mr. would prefer to indulge in milk chocolate all day, I’m over here completely KO’d by all the sweets from the holidays, so here comes in the Valentine’s Day Smoothie Bowl. I was completely inspired by the heart-shaped candies called “Sweethearts” with those cute little messages. I thought it would be a fun and healthy way to start the day, and the kiddos would get a kick out of it too!
But wait, there’s more! I’ve teamed up with 29 Canadian bloggers to bring you 30 Sweet Valentine’s Day Ideas to Make, Bake, and Create. SAY WHAAAAT! So make sure to check out all the fun at the bottom of the post and get your V-day on!
Now, I know what you’re thinking… You won’t keep yourself from taking advantage of a day dedicated to all things sweets—There’s no way you’ll be eating healthy on this love-filled day. I hear you and I get it. I won’t be eating healthy all day long either, but starting the morning right before indulging definitely saves me from a sugar high and crash. But with that being said, I’m not the sugar police and adding a few little chocolate treats in the smoothie bowl won’t hurt nobody. ?
Putting these smoothie bowls together was so much fun! I recently purchased these alphabet cutters on Amazon and they are the key tool to have for making those cute little fruit letters. I tested these cutters out on a few different kinds of fruit, and it definitely works best on the more firm fruit. Mango was quite the disaster no matter how thick I cut it, so I definitely suggest sticking with cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, and watermelon. Now, if you (or your kids) aren’t crazy about smoothie bowls, you can replace it with yogurt instead. Also requires less work in the morning which is a total win in my books!
Not only were these cutters perfect for the smoothie bowl, but I can also see how these would be great for getting your kids to try new foods. I tested it out with my little (big) dude, and he was pretty excited to see “train” and “choo choo” written out on his plate. I’ll definitely be playing around with it to see if I can have success! Picky eating ain’t no joke.
