It’s really easy to get wrapped up in the day-to-day stuff…work, schedules, deadlines, what’s for dinner, keeping the house clean, and as a blogger, I always feel “plugged in”. Spending hours on the computer writing and editing photos, scrolling through Instagram and curating the perfect feed. There always seems like a never-ending to-do list.
I’ve reminded myself lately to leave time for silliness, to give myself a break when things get overwhelming, and most of all have fun. Making time to unplug from my phone, unwind, refuel my creativity and enjoy real moments with the family, is good for the soul. Here are four ways I unwind and enjoy real moments.
4 WAYS I UNWIND AND ENJOY REAL MOMENTS
PUT A RECORD ON AND VIBE TO SOME TUNES
I can’t go a day without listening to music. From The Beatles to Radiohead to Prince, my fiancé and I get into these moods where we bounce from artist to artist fulfilling these “music cravings”. Some days we sit back and talk about memories that certain songs evoke. Reminiscing about Jude when he wasn’t even 1 yet, how he would bob his head and rock out to The Beatles. There are also some days where we have full on dance parties and make up some very cool dance moves that Jude will totally be embarrassed of if we decide to whip them out in public. Hashtag parent life 😉
TAKE OUT YOUR BEST PENCIL CRAYONS AND COLOR
When I was a kid, we used to spend our evenings with a spread of coloring books and different types of crayons and markers all over the kitchen table. I remember sitting there picking out my color theme and being so concentrated on making sure I didn’t color out of the lines. Those moments were peaceful with a few giggles here and there. Now they have really cool and unique adult coloring books that inspire creativity and help me to forget all my stress.
HAVE A PICNIC
We love to pack a lunch and find spots around our town to explore. Some of our favorite things to pack for our lunch are some fresh fruits and vegetables from our local farmer’s market, sweet potato crackers, hummus, and our newly favorite summertime drink, Pure Leaf Iced Tea. We discovered Pure Leaf last summer when we were looking for a refreshing beverage to serve to our guests at a party. It’s real brewed tea, made from real tea leaves and there are so many delicious flavors, as well as unsweetened ones.
PULL OUT THE MUD MASK AND HAVE A SPA NIGHT
This may be my absolute favorite way to unwind. Painting my nails, putting on a charcoal mask and catching up on some reading. I do this most Sunday evenings because there’s nothing better than starting the week off with a fresh mani and some glowing rejuvenated skin.
How do you unwind and enjoy real moments?

I love to relax with my favourite movie! I have to say I’ve never tried Pure Leaf and your pictures have me craving it! I told the hubby to buy some on his way home. ????

Although I need to unplug sometimes, I do love relaxing with a movie or TV show as well. I hope you tried Pure Leaf iced tea! 🙂
