The past couple of weeks here on the east coast were hot and it sure felt like summer! It had us all very excited and spending our days playing outside but I felt a little unprepared. With a lack of sunscreen and Jude scraping his knees and elbows while running towards a slide, I knew it was time to stock up on some summer essentials for my baby! Here are some of our favorite summer essentials for outdoor playtime and protection from the sun.
Crayola Sidewalk chalk: Jude is absolutely obsessed with drawing trains in the driveway, or shall I say making us draw them for him. So this is a definite must for us.
me4kidz Medibuddy First Aid To Go Kit: We keep a first aid kit with us where ever we go all year ’round. Perfect for tending to cuts and scrapes immediately. These kits have assorted sizes of bandages, antiseptic wipes, gauze pads as well as stickers to help make your little one feel better.
Banana Boat Natural Reflect Kids Sunscreen Lotion: Jude has very sensitive skin and this sunscreen doesn’t make his skin break out into a rash! Although I do find it a little hard to rub in, it doesn’t have much of a scent, it doesn’t leave a white cast and it isn’t greasy at all.
The Pop Up Co. Infant UV Playshade: This is great to bring to the beach or if you’re planning on spending a day at the park. It has a high rating of 50+ UPF, so you know your kiddo will be protected. It is also made of waterproof polyester, so no worries about getting it dirty. This won’t be anything difficult to transport either! Pops up and down in seconds and is its own portable case.
Old Navy Captain America Rashguards: Perfect for protection against the sun and abrasions, rash guards are great for keeping safe while playing in the water.
Old Navy Shark-Print Swim Trunks: Swim trunks for playing at the beach and pools is always a must and these from Old Navy are just adorable. I love that Old Navy always has a sale going on and now most of the store is up to 50% off! Just in time for stocking up on some summer clothes for the family!
Melissa & Doug Seaside Sidekicks Sand Baking Set: Making a trip to the beach? Then of course you’ll need to bring a bucket and pale. This Melissa & Doug one is too cute. The kids will be baking some great sandy treats!
Mec Piccolo Sunglasses: Blocking the UV rays from your little ones eyes, is very important when spending the day out in the sun and on the plus side, your kiddo will look like a little rock star in these!
Nike Sunray Sandals: This sporty and comfy sandal is practical, with features like quick-dry stretchable fabric and two-point adjustable straps for a secure fit. Takes no time to put them on your kiddos feet and are incredibly light weight, so you won’t be seeing any feet dragging in these. Also a huge plus, they hold up all summer to a rough stuntman boy!
